I messed up and I'm scared to talk to my prof about it?

I'm a first year student and for my literature midterm I had to write 2 essays, but I procrastinated so much that they never got done. I'm okay with taking a zero on the ignment, but I'm dreading telling my professor about it because I think he'll judge me/hate me/think I'm s. I know it's stupid but I don't know what to do. I know I have to take responsibility. What is the best way to go about telling him?
