How do I stop a fluffy rug from malting?

I have this really nice red fluffy rug in my room, but now as a result the clue carpet has turned red. How do I stop the rug from malting everywhere, as I can't hoover the fluff up either, I just have to individually pick each bit of fluff from the carpet! Help please!
